NPTE-YRLY FSBPT Updates

The NPTE-YRLY, or now called the NPTE-i, will be the newly designed exam that will be given for foreign-trained physical therapists who graduated from physical therapy schools and universities from Egypt, India, Pakistan and the Philippines who want to work in the United States as licensed physical therapists. This new set of exam will be given sometime in 2011 and will be given only once a year thereafter.

In early July 2010, the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) announced that they are suspending all physical therapists who graduated from schools from the Philippines, Egypt, India, and Pakistan from taking the U.S. National Physical Therapy Examination or NPTE. This measure has been enforced because of "...compelling evidence gathered by the Federation reflecting systematic and methodical sharing and distribution of recalled questions by significant numbers of graduates of programs in the affected countries," according to the FSBPT website.
